GENERAL INFORMATION
Description: Emilia Romagna is the sixth Italian region as extension. It extends south of the Po river and along the Adriatic coast up to Cattolica, a famous seaside resort. It borders to the north with Veneto and Lombardy, to the south with Tuscany, Lazio and Marche regions and to the west with Piedmont and Liguria. Bologna is the capital of the region and the other provinces are Reggio-Emilia, Rimini, Modena, Parma, Ferrara, Forlì-Cesena, Piacenza and Ravenna. The name ”Emilia” comes from the “Emilia road” that was built in II sec. bc. by the romans, linking the Adriatic and the Po Valley. Even the name Romagna has roman origins.
Gastronomy and wines: Emiglia Romagna has a rich culinary tradition of creative dishes and one of the most famous are ”tortellini” that are the pride of many kinds of pasta made striktly at home. The ”tortellini” are generally spiced with ”ragù alla bolognese”, a delicious sauce or cooked in broth. Another typical dish is "lasagne", flavored with meat and bechamel sauce and baked in the oven. Despite the fact that Emilia Romagna is famous for its pasta dishes, we also find delicious second courses like "pisarei fasioi" and “cappello del prete”.It should also be reminded ”piadina romagnola”, a very thin round bread that is often eaten with meats or cheeses. The most famous products that are associated worldwide not only to Emilia Romagna but also to the whole Italy are Parma ham, Parmesan cheese and the balsamic vinegar of Modena.Among the wines we reccomend Lambrusco, a sparkling red wine, sweet or dry, and Sangiovese. Although the red wines prevail, the white wines as a good white Trebbiano, Cabernet or Albania are also delicious.
Description: Bologna, regional capital of the province, is located in a central geographical position and, since ancient times, favorable for trade with the rest of the territory. It is located on Via Emilia and is bordered by the rivers Reno and Savena.
