SICILY
Sicily is the largest Mediterranean island, separated from the rest of the peninsula by the Strait of Messina with shores by the Ionian,
Tyrrhenian and the Mediterranean sea.
The succession of various civilizations (Greeks, Romans, Normans) has enriched the area with urban settlements, monuments of the past that make Sicily a region rich in artistic masterpieces.
In addition, Sicily is also rich in beautiful nature and traditions.
Mountains, hills, lakes and rivers, parks and nature reserves and the most appreciated… the beautiful Mediterranean Sea with its incredible colours, transparent water and beautiful grounds has nothing to envy to other seas.
The island is shaped like a triangle.
The north coast is mountainous and rocky with several peninsulas and bays. The south coast has low and sandy areas reminding of Africa’s landscapes. The east coast is dominated by Mount Etna with volcanic rocks and beaches and limestone cliffs...
The Mediterranean and Sicily offer scenarios, perfumes and unique intense flavours:
Panarea island, the smallest and most charming islands of the archipelago
Lipari island, the largest and most populated of the Aeolian Islands, famous for its mild climate and ideal for sea sports
Salina island, consists of six extinct volcanoes and is the second as extension in the archipelago
Egadi islands
Favignana island with its clear sea water, nice small beaches and prehistoric caveas
Pantelleria island with its so called “Favare”, intermittent jets of vapour water coming out of crevasses at 100°. In some of these caves, the steam coming out at 30° is used as a natural sauna.
The Sicilian cuisine is another major advantage: witness of ancient civilizations from which absorbed its mixed, varied and dense aromas and flavours; vegetables, pasta, fabulous desserts, candies or delicious ice creams.
Sicily means also relax and wellness: the Spas of Santa Venera, San Calogero or Termini Imerese ... are just a few examples on how much fabulous Sicily is!
