These hot springs contain a high percentage of sodium chloride, iodine and bromine, but also many other factors that significantly expand the therapeutic effects. The presence of iron salts, which oxidize on contact with the air, give the waters a typical reddish color. From the ancient sea water, Terme di Salsomaggiore obtained an exclusive product: the brine, a spa water which is mainly used for inhalation treatments, nasal and vaginal irrigations due to a sharp reduction in the chloride sodium. From the same wells as the thermal waters is being extracted the sludge, a product rich in minerals and mixed with area’s clay and left to become mature for two years in the thermal waters and then used for therapeutic applications.
