LIGURIA
Liguria is located in peninsula's north-western part. It borders with France and the capital is Genoa.
It looks like a strip of land squeezed between the Ligurian Sea, the Maritime Alps and the Apennine.
It appears mainly as a mountainous region with hills and a picturesque coastline.
It is a region with various holiday opportunities due to many aspects: natural beauty, sea, mountains, culture and arts, entertainment and nightlife.
The pleasant maritime climate along the coast as well as the sea with its rocky coastline along which can be found many small sandy beaches makes Liguria an important renown tourist destination.

Sanremo is famous for the extensive production of flowers, Ventimiglia along the French border, famous for its archaeological sites and medieval villages, Camogli, beach resort in the province of Genoa, famous for its beautiful castle and romanic churches.
The beautiful villages of Cinque Terre are: Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore.
Additionally to wide beaches, wonderful resorts, towns and mountains can be added the Liguria cuisine based mainly on fish of any kind cooked in soups or roasted in the oven, different types of pasta and vegetables from the local hills.
A typical gastronomic ligurian product is "Pesto Genovese", very popular among italians and abroad.
