Description Pisa: Pisa is one of the main towns of Tuscany, located in the floodplain area of the Arno River (that crosses Pisa) and situated about 12 km from the Tyrrhenian Sea. This town (famous for its leaning tower) is one of the most important historical and artistic sites of Italy with its monuments and art works.
Cuisine and Wines in Pisa: The couisine of Pisa offers both sea and land specialties and also some special recipes such as "white bean soup of San Michele", " fish bavettine – bavettine sul pesce " (special spaghetti with fish sauce ), "clam soup – zuppa di arselle" served with slices of delicious tuscan bread, "frog soup – zuppa di ranocchi". Another typical dish is " cče alla pisana" newborn eels from Arno river cooked with sage.
The main courses often use game meat including: pheasants, coots, wild boar, rabbits and ducks. Among the desserts we recommend the famous "torta coi bischeri" made with pine nuts, chocolate, raisins and candied citron. Among the wines we find Chianti from the Pisan Hills, Montescudaio and Montecarlo.
